Universities like Waikato, Massey, Lincoln, and Otago offer agriculture-focused degrees that cover sustainability, agribusiness, food systems, and Māori land development. These programmes prepare you for leadership roles in farming, food production, and environmental management.

Examples of Agriculture Degrees/Diplomas in New Zealand; this is not an exclusive list:

  • University of WaikatoAgribusiness & Māori Agribusiness. Offers undergraduate and postgraduate options in Agribusiness. Learn about rural finance, sustainability, global supply chains, and smart farming technologies. The new Tupu Rangatahi – Tupu Ahuwhenua Māori Agribusiness programme launches in 2025, supporting Māori aspirations for the whenua.
  • WintecOffers the New Zealand Diploma in Primary Industry Business Management (Level 5). Ideal for those starting out or advancing in dairy, sheep or beef. Focuses on practical farm management and agribusiness skills.
  • Massey University– Offers a wide range of agriculture degrees, including hands-on learning, field trips, and paid farm placements.
